Ibiza, the Balearic Island, is a place of contrasts and a destination that offers much more than just its legendary party scene. While the island's vibrant energy and iconic clubs are well-known, there's a quieter, more relaxed side to Ibiza that deserves exploration. In this article, I'll take you through my recent experience of revisiting Ibiza and share some of the chicest spots to unwind, recharge, and find that perfect balance between relaxation and late-night revelry.
A Weekend Escape
My recent trip to Ibiza was a much-needed break, and I was determined to find a balance between indulging in the island's famous nightlife and enjoying some well-deserved rest. With a few more years of wisdom and a slightly different energy level, I sought out an itinerary that offered the best of both worlds.
Where to Stay: OKU Ibiza
For an idyllic and luxurious retreat, OKU Ibiza is hard to beat. Nestled on the edge of Cala Gració, this chic hotel offers a minimalist design aesthetic with calming neutral interiors. The hotel's understated luxury provides a perfect escape from the crowds.
During the day, you can choose between two pools - one family-friendly and the other adults-only, where you can relax to the sound of Balearic beats. The crystal-clear waters of Cala Gració are just a short stroll away, offering a peaceful beach experience. I stayed in a Superior Room, which was incredibly stylish and featured a freestanding bath, double vanity sinks, and a spacious wardrobe - a true home away from home.
Dining Delights
Teyo
Teyo is a must-visit restaurant, even if you're not staying at OKU. Executive Chef Mark Vaessen has crafted a menu that blends Japanese-inspired fusion cuisine with an elegant setting. The sushi, sashimi, and grilled dishes are exceptional, and the sharing plates showcase the freshest seasonal ingredients. The warm, earthy tones of the interiors create a sophisticated yet relaxed ambiance, perfect for lingering over cocktails.
Monkey
For a laid-back lunch that turns into sunset drinks, Monkey Ibiza is the place to be. Located on San Antonio Bay, this restaurant and pool club offers a boho-chic vibe with stunning sea views. The creative cocktail menu is impressive, but I recommend sticking to classics like the Paloma. With two terraces and a sunset-facing setting, it's the ideal spot to watch the sky turn golden.
Niko Al Fresco
If you're seeking a dinner spot with breathtaking views, Niko Al Fresco on the Sun & Moon terrace in Cala Llonga is a gem. The contemporary Japanese cuisine is paired with sweeping views of the sea and mountains. The Wagyu Carpaccio and Spicy Salmon Maki Rolls are a must-try, and the Spicy Edamame packs a punch.
A Stylish Day
CLAP House Ibiza
For a sophisticated day by the water, CLAP House Ibiza is a must-visit. Overlooking Talamanca Bay, this all-day destination offers a 50-meter pool, Japanese dining, and a range of wellness activities. The pool club has been given a stylish makeover by Dolce & Gabbana, with their signature leopard print adorning the interiors. You can enjoy sushi, sashimi, and cocktails, and indulge in a range of wellness experiences, including Reformer Pilates and an ice bath. A day at CLAP House is truly an Ibiza experience like no other.
Ibiza is a place of discovery, and beyond the party scene, there are countless idyllic spots to unwind and create unforgettable memories. From luxurious hotels to sunset cocktails and exquisite dining, this island offers a unique blend of relaxation and vibrant energy. Personally, I think it's a destination that should be explored beyond the hype, and I hope my guide inspires you to discover the chic side of Ibiza.
