Born Ann Patricia Mahon, she grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Donnybrook, Dublin. Her father, an engineer with a distinguished past in the Royal Air Force, and her mother, a passionate advocate for animal rights and a talented florist, laid the foundation for Ann's extraordinary life.

Apart from her musical endeavors, Ann was an avid tennis follower and a passionate traveler. She served on the boards of various cultural institutions, including the Fullbright Commission, Opera Theatre Company, and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
