Attention, Daiso fans! A beloved Japanese megastore is saying goodbye to its 100 AM mall location in Tanjong Pagar. Mark your calendars, as the last day of operations is set for January 4th, 2026.
The news was shared by Daiso itself on social media, leaving many fans feeling a mix of emotions. But here's where it gets controversial: the reason behind the closure remains a mystery. Daiso's post didn't elaborate, leaving room for speculation and a bit of uncertainty.
Despite this closure, Daiso still has a strong presence in Singapore with 32 physical outlets. However, this isn't the first time they've said farewell to a location; earlier this year, they closed their store at Kinex in Tanjong Katong.
And this is the part most people miss: Daiso's pricing strategy has evolved. Back in April 2022, they started charging Goods and Services Tax (GST), and in the same month, they announced a new 15-tier pricing system. So, it seems like the $2 flat rate is a thing of the past.
