Jonas Vingegaard: Grand Tour Champion and Real Estate Investor? The Visma star expands his holdings by purchasing a neighboring property, making it the fourth addition to his real estate collection in a charming Danish fishing village.
Jonas Vingegaard, renowned for his remarkable achievements in cycling, particularly in the Tour de France, is now branching out into a different kind of race—one in real estate. Recently, reports from Ekstra Bladet have revealed that the leader of Team Visma | Lease a Bike has acquired yet another house in Glyngore, a picturesque fishing town in Denmark. This recent purchase brings his total number of properties in the area to four and his overall property count to five.
What sets this acquisition apart is its strategic location. The newly purchased home is conveniently located next to another property he already owns, while the family's primary residence since spring 2024 has been a larger home situated just outside Glyngore, overlooking the serene fjord.
A Cash Purchase in His Hometown
The new property was secured for 6.5 million kroner, according to land registry information referenced by Ekstra Bladet, and interestingly, it was bought outright without any mortgage financing. In a town like Glyngore, this price tag positions the property at the higher end of the local real estate market.
Sitting on a generous 1,051 square meter plot with views of Sallingsund, the house was constructed in 2000 and boasts 146 square meters of living space. Furthermore, it includes a spacious carport and an additional outbuilding, totaling approximately 190 square meters of built area.
What the Vingegaard family intends to do with their latest acquisition remains uncertain. There is potential for it to be rented out, or perhaps they might integrate it with the adjacent plot to develop a much larger residence in the heart of the town.
From Racing Jerseys to Real Estate Investments
Vingegaard has openly stated that he prefers to invest his earnings in properties rather than splurge on extravagant items. This latest purchase aligns perfectly with that investment philosophy.
An overview of the family's real estate portfolio, as provided by Ekstra Bladet, illustrates how rapidly it has expanded. At the core of this portfolio is a luxurious villa in Glyngore, purchased in 2024 for 13.25 million kroner. This impressive property is situated on a sprawling plot that leads down to Sallingsund and features amenities including a wellness area complete with a swimming pool, wine cellar, and even a riding arena.
In addition to this, the family also acquired a lavish summer home in Egaa, located just outside Aarhus towards Kalo Vig, for 6.25 million kroner. Previous purchases include a villa in Glyngore acquired in 2022 for 3.475 million kroner. They also bought a separate plot in Glyngore back in 2019, where an older house was demolished to make way for a new construction that offers better views, reportedly built for Vingegaard's mother-in-law.
With this latest addition to their real estate portfolio, it's noteworthy that four out of the family's five properties are concentrated around Glyngore, underscoring their deep-rooted connection to the area.
Quiet Winter, Promising Future
For the moment, Vingegaard is concentrating on training for the upcoming cycling season. Reports indicate that his team will soon head to Spain for a training camp, where details of his season schedule are expected to be unveiled.
On the competitive front, Vingegaard's status in the cycling world is already well-established. He is a two-time Tour de France winner and the reigning champion of the Vuelta, accolades that firmly place him among the elite Grand Tour competitors of his time. Looking ahead, many anticipate his debut in the Giro d’Italia in 2026, providing him an opportunity to compete for victories across all three Grand Tours.
Beyond the cycling track, however, Vingegaard’s expanding property investments in and around Glyngore are beginning to weave a narrative of their own—one that runs parallel to his athletic career, illustrating that he is not just defined by his successes on the bike.
