The Masked Singer Unveils its Champion: Keisha Buchanan as Moth
The star of Sugababes, Keisha Buchanan, has been crowned the champion of this year's The Masked Singer series, revealing herself as the enigmatic Moth. The 41-year-old singer, who performed Rihanna's 'Only Girl (In The World)' and Foreigner's 'I Want To Know What Love Is' in the final, was correctly identified by panellist Maya Jama. The show's runner-up was Tipping Point presenter Ben Shephard, who was revealed as Conkers, while soul singer Mica Paris was unveiled as Toastie, with three panellists correctly guessing her identity.
Buchanan expressed her joy after winning, stating, 'I’ve had the best time, I think I’m more of an introvert than I am an extrovert, actually. And I think this has, you know, without the girls by my side, it’s kind of like made me a lot more confident, and it’s really brought me out of my shell.'
Shephard's unmasking as Conkers surprised the judging panel, including Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, and last year's winner Samantha Barks. Shephard, who had previously appeared on the show's judging panel during the Halloween special, described his experience as 'an extraordinary journey.'
The duets featured returning performers, including Samantha Barks as Pufferfish, Andrea Corr of The Corrs as Snail, and Will Young as Lionfish. Third-place finisher Mica Paris revealed her motivation, saying, 'I wanted to do it for my grandkids… they don’t (know that I am doing The Masked Singer), they know I’m doing a show but they don’t know what it is.'
This year's series of The Masked Singer is available for catch-up on ITVX.
